South Jersey Chess Club – Special Event Friday, May 18 2018; 6:30 PM

South Jersey Chess Club is honored to host a special public event at the South Jersey Innovation Center 2003 Lincoln Drive West Marlton, NJ 08053.

As part of our mission to enhance the community’s appreciation and understanding of chess through special events hosted by Grandmasters, chess teachers and coaches, the South Jersey Chess Club proudly presents a public Simultaneous Chess Exhibition preceded by a lecture and Q/A by renowned Grandmaster Bryan Smith.

Bryan Smith is the only grandmaster from Alaska. His accomplishments include first place in the National Chess Congress (2008, 2009, 2017), Philadelphia International (2010), and Limpedea Cup (2011).

In the lecture, Bryan will discuss what he considers the four key areas that constitute chess strength:

General understanding
Concrete calculation
Specific knowledge
Psychological strength

Chess examples will focus on how these qualities combine to make for correct decision making.
